The Media Room was designed in connection with Metropolitan Home's Showtime House, an event where NYC top designers were challenged to transform a beautiful Gramercy Park townhouse into a beacon of modernism inspired by original Showtime hit series. Instead of the media room deriving its inspiration from a specific show, it looks to the overall concept of Showtime as a cable TV network. Accordingly, inspiration came from optical fibers, light and movement. Floating along a pathway, a dazzling display of fluorescent tubes decoratively highlighted a mix of television screens and monitors of various shapes and sizes where videos, inspired by Showtime hits and created by visual artist Lee Whittier, were shown.
